Custom and OEM Power Adapters: What You Can Specify
Most buyers do not need a full new design; they need an off-the-shelf platform tuned to their voltage, connector and label. OEM adapter programs deliver that from 500 units with samples in days.
What You Can Customize
- Output: voltage and current tuned to your load (e.g. 12V 3A, 24V 2.5A).
- Connector: barrel size, terminal block, Molex, or a locked custom plug.
- AC inlet: fixed, IEC C8/C14, or interchangeable clips for US/EU/UK/AU.
- Housing: wall, desktop, or enclosed; color and vent pattern.
- Label: private label with your brand, model and regulatory marks.
Multi-Output and Smart Features
Some programs add a second rail (e.g. 12V + 5V), a USB-C PD port, or a status LED. Keep it minimal - every extra feature is a certification and cost line.
MOQ and Lead Time
Platform-based OEM typically starts around 500 units. Samples from existing tooling run 3-7 days; new tooling adds weeks. XGW runs 37 R&D engineers and in-house safety testing for faster turns.
FAQ
Is a custom adapter much more expensive than stock?
Only marginally, because it reuses a certified platform. The cost is in the label and connector, not the electronics.
Can I get UL and CE on a private-label unit?
Yes. The adapter is certified to UL/IEC 62368-1; your brand goes on the label under the manufacturer's file.
