What is Zhaga Book-18?

A Zhaga Consortium specification that defines the mechanical, electrical and thermal interface between a luminaire and a control module. Because the interface is standardised, any compliant module — from any vendor — seats, seals and communicates correctly.

Can I fit a Zhaga socket now and upgrade the module later?

That is the point of the standard. A socket fitted today accepts a simple photocell now and a networked sensor module later, with no rewiring, no new tooling and no re-certification of the housing.

Does the socket need mounting screws?

No. The sealing is achieved without screws, which removes four fasteners and four potential leak paths from the assembly, and shortens assembly time per luminaire.

What is the difference between JL-701A, JL-711A and JL-712?

They are three tiers on the same socket. JL-701A is a DALI-2 ready 24 V DC controller, JL-711A adds 0-10 V and DALI at 120-277 V, and JL-712 adds light and motion sensing with Zigbee or NB-IoT connectivity at IP67.

Is the socket compatible with other vendors' modules?

Yes. The geometry follows Zhaga Book-18, so any compliant module seats and seals correctly — interchangeability is defined by the standard rather than by brand.
